Hi Everybody

Thought you would be interested to hear about the South Western Federation of Museums & Art Galleries Conference/AGM being held on July 10 at the Royal Albert Memorial Museum in Exeter. Our keynote speaker is the well known author and historian Adrian Tinniswood who is also a trustee on many museum and heritage organisations. We also have Tim Ewin of the Natural History Museum from 'The Campaign for Good Curatorship'. Adrian, Tim and a host of other speakers will address the challenges facing museums in accessing and retaining specialist knowledge. Is the role of the Curator in crisis? Do we need Curators?

There will also be a panel discussion on these issues; a mini trade fair with suppliers to the sector (a selection of our Corporate Members), the HLF and the SW Museum Development Partnership; and tours of this award-winning museum. Non-members are welcome!

For those in the South West who are members of the Fed or would like to be there are opportunities for professional development within the Fed by joining the Board at the AGM. In particular we are looking for a Minutes Secretary and Training Secretary for which nominations can be taken from the floor on the day. This is a great opportunity for networking and becoming more involved with museum development in the region.

All the details can be found on our website here: http://www.swfed.org.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1111:conference-a-agm-2013&catid=88:about-us
Please book by July 5 to be assured of lunch!

Best Regards
Sally Lewis
SW Fed Coordinator
