The Archives and Records Association are supporting the roll-out of Archive Service Accreditation<http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/archives-sector/archive-service-accreditation.htm> with a series of introductory half-day workshops in the English regions. The workshops are aimed at prospective applicants to the scheme. The sessions will introduce the structure and purpose of Archive Service Accreditation, explain the application process and familiarise participants with the tools, guidance and support available when they begin their applications. We will also explore some of the less familiar elements of the Standard with practical exercises, to give participants confidence in addressing these within their own archive services.

The sessions are scheduled to run:

 * London Region: 10 September, 1pm, central London. To book, please fill in a booking form<http://www.archives.org.uk/images/documents/AfELG/ARA_Event_Booking_Form.doc> and send it to [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>. Further workshops are available in the home nations, and ongoing development and support will be offered as the programme rolls out, with a regular programme of training in 2014 onwards. You do not have to be an ARA member to attend these training sessions. There is also a group on ARA Community<http://www.archives.org.uk/sections/interest-groups/general/archive-service-accreditation-help-for-applicants.html> to support ARA members with discussions of their Accreditation development.

If you are in an English archive service and haven't yet taken the short planning survey on when you expect to apply for accredited status, it is still open at: http://archiveserviceaccreditation.surveyanalytics.com.
