Part of the problem here may lie in our understandings of what 'demons' are. Causing intentional possession by 'spirits' is a fairly standard component of both Afro-Diasporan and Contemporary Pagan practices. And the spirits involved are of sometimes quite dodgy character. Discuss.

 Dear Ted

Perhaps you could expand on this, are you refering to ancient superstition/religious propoganda? Can you provide some references?

As a long term scholar of contemporary witchcraft I have not come across anything regarding intentional demonic possession, other than in the imaginations of some fundamentalist Christians who torture children to death. ww.facebook.com/whrin

Hello all

I have been wondering if there is a technical (theological) term for someone who causes intentional demonic possession? The opposite of an exorcist?

Any insights would be appreciated.
