45th Annual Convention
Northeast Modern Language Association (NeMLA)
April 3-6, 2014
Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

This panel interrogates the impact of the Scottish poet Robert Burns on nineteenth-century writers around the globe. How did his efforts in developing a poetry that deals with freedom and nationalism inspire later authors? How was his poetics of national identity transported beyond Scottish borders to influence how writers across a variety of nations articulate national identity? Please submit 250-300 word abstracts, along with a brief biographical statement, to Jessica Gray ([log in to unmask]) and Rebekah Greene ([log in to unmask]).

Please visit www.nemla.org for more information about the convention.
