The Centre for Primary Care and Public Health wishes to recruit an outstanding academic to contribute to its global health education and research. Four MSc programmes and an intercalated BSc are being offered in areas covering international primary health care, global public health, health systems, and global health and law.

These programmes are part of initiatives in both global medical education in the Barts & The London School of Medicine, and in greater involvement in the health needs of the East London population. The Centre is looking for a leading academic with an established record in global health policy, health systems, medical anthropology/sociology, or the social determinants of health to take forward this key development. The post will take forward work on health systems within the context of the taught programmes.

Candidates will have an excellent understanding of health systems and global health or health policy. Their research interests are likely to involve health systems, social determinants of health, economics, the political economy of healthcare, medical anthropology, medical sociology, or healthcare management.

The post is fixed term and full time for a period of two years, starting in October 2013 or as soon as possible thereafter. Starting salary will be in the range £50,267- £56,185 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
