practitioner may state that an employee is fit, unfit or that restrictions
are required, but the employer does not need to know the clinical
details behind that advice, except with the written consent of the

Dear All,
I am reaching into the past for a reference and wonder if someone can please point me in the right direction.
It was something stating something along the lines of :
OH professionals interpret and report on the information in a medical report for managers rather than the managers having to understand impacts of diagnoses and treatments and then having to make judgements on individual's likely abilities / inabilities at work/ fitness to work etc.
Does this ring a bell with anyone? NICE, CIPD, HSE???
Would be grateful if someone can recall the document please?
