The Air Force Research Lab at Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, New Mexico is
seeking an experimental physical chemist to conduct laboratory basic
research using laser spectroscopy for applications involving development
of satellite propulsion, advanced solar power sources, and models of
thruster plume chemistry. Specifically, we are seeking a prospective or
recent (within 5 years) PhD with experience in laser spectroscopy, mass
spectrometry, and data acquisition and analysis. Familiarity with
theoretical chemistry is also desirable. Applicants must be US citizens.

This is a one-year position with a mutual option for a second year, and
is contingent upon successful application and funding through the
National Research Council. Information about the application process,
program stipend and benefits, and other policies can be found at
sites.nationalacademies.org/PGA/RAP/index.htm. The next due date for NRC
submission is August 1, corresponding to a start date of January 2014.
The submission package includes a research proposal, which is typically
written in consultation with laboratory personnel and will be tailored
to suit both the interests of the applicant and the research needs of
AFRL. We encourage interested applicants to contact us to begin this
process as soon as possible.
