medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture apologies for cross-posting I have just posted to my online archive 101 photos from Pavia: the Arca di Sant'Agostino (funerary monument for Augustine of Hippo) and the church in which it is housed, San Pietro in Ciel d'Oro: http://www.kornbluthphoto.com/Arca.html http://www.kornbluthphoto.com/SanPietroPavia.html The Arca gives a very fourteenth-century take on Augustine, with lots of pomp and miracles. I have not identified some of the figures, despite help from Sharon Dale (who is about to publish a book on the monument). Does anyone have ideas about the large standing figures on the top, pinnacle level? I am particularly curious about one in the next to last row of thumbnails on the Arca page, last two photos, who holds a large limp child or some such-- looks rather like someone with a voodoo doll. Among images on the building's page are some of the reliquary of Boethius (St. Severinus Boethius), along with the altar that houses relics of Augustine. These images take me past the 3000 photo milestone in the development of my archive. As I was indexing this latest batch, I noticed a few broken links and fixed them. The archive is now large enough to keep me from visiting every page very often, so if you ever encounter a broken link (or other problem), please let me know! best to all, Genevra home page: http://www.kornbluthphoto.com archive index: http://www.kornbluthphoto.com/archive-1.html ********************************************************************** To join the list, send the message: subscribe medieval-religion YOUR NAME to: [log in to unmask] To send a message to the list, address it to: [log in to unmask] To leave the list, send the message: unsubscribe medieval-religion to: [log in to unmask] In order to report problems or to contact the list's owners, write to: [log in to unmask] For further information, visit our web site: http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/medieval-religion
