LIRG Annual General Meeting: 1st July 2013 (updated)

The Chair of LIRG invites members and non-members to attend the 2013 Annual General Meeting. This will take place at Manchester Metropolitan University, Manchester on Monday 1st July.

The AGM will follow the LIRG Research Award presentations and a discussion “What do LIS practitioners want from research?”

Details
Date: Monday 1st July. 2013
Time: 5pm (AGM starts 7pm)
Venue: Geoffrey Manton Lecture Theatre, All Saints Campus, just off Oxford Road, Manchester.

5pm Welcome

5:10pm - Presentation by LIRG Student Prize 2011 Winner Thomas Muggleton, Strathclyde University.

5:30pm – Presentation by LIRG Student Prize 2012 Winner Timothy Lowe, Northumbria University.

5:50pm Short video on behalf of LIRG Research Award 2011 Winners Hannah Rose and Gillian Siddall, University of Northampton.

6:00pm - Presentation - LIRG Scan Award 2012/13 winners - Helen Buckley Woods and Andrew Booth, Scharr, University of Sheffield

6:30pm Debate:
“What do LIS practitioners want from research?” Alison Brettle - Salford University
7:00pm AGM
7:15pm Close and social

Please note that both the AGM and event are open to non-members, but only members are eligible to vote at the AGM.  There is no charge for attendance at the AGM or the event, but please register to reserve your place by contacting [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>

LIRG and JIBS Students Prizes 2013
The Library and Information Research Group (LIRG) and the JIBS User Group JIBS) each award a student prize each year for an outstanding research-based project.
Both prizes will be for a Postgraduate dissertation or a final year Undergraduate project.


•         The LIRG student prize will be awarded for a research based project on any LIS topic.

•         The JIBS student prize will be restricted to the area of library information systems, bibliographic databases or other electronic technologies and how such resources or technologies are being developed or exploited; practical projects that exploit such technologies may also be submitted.

Each School of Library and Information Studies is invited to nominate one of their student's projects for each prize. A student project may be submitted for both prizes but no single project will be given both prizes.

The closing date for submission is the 29 July 2013.
