Dear all,

Some of you may not realise that NATECLA London is entirely run by volunteers (yes I know!!)
and that our last 2 London conferences have been organised in our free time, motivated by the desire to support our peers and continue to be the voice of ESOL and support our students.

 馃憠 NATECLA London needs you!

Volunteering may be for a few hours a week or a month or a year. All you need to be is a current NATECLA member. We meet whenever we can (usually 2 or 3 times a term) then liaise by e-mail in between. Some people help us out with just one event and some of us have been there since the London group was created (less than a year ago).

Benefits of volunteering for us include 'feeling great!' being part of a team of ESOL specialists and having your finger on the pulse of ESOL.

We aim to offer the best CPD we can, share our expertise and ensure ESOL remains a priority for asylum seekers, refugees and migrant workers. Did I mention feeling great?

We currently need
路 contributions to NATECLA News (send us your articles by the end of September for inclusion in the Autumn 2013 edition)
路 a treasurer (mainly petty cash and small amounts, for now!)
路 a membership officer (checks people registered on event are current, chases up lapsed members, encourages non-members to join)
路 fundraisers (with particular focus on attracting corporate sponsorships for our forthcoming events and organising fund raising events for the Ruth Hayman Trust, pub quiz, etc
路 a campaign officer (to liaise with Action for ESOL)
路 an E&D Officer to support the embedding of E&D in ESOL with a particular focus on LGBT (to co-run the virtual group)
路 any practical or more hands on help is also welcomed and fully appreciated
路 the more of us there are the less each of us has to do........

some quotes from our current volunteers
'I love volunteering for NATECLA. To be honest, it doesn't even feel like volunteering. Since I've been doing this I feel like I'm so much more involved in what's happening in my profession and I am directly affecting change for the better for my learners.

I love it!! It has helped my career, quite a lot actually, by being involved not only do I get to meet other people in my field and develop as a teacher but make connections I would have otherwise not made. The best thing about it for me is the knowledge of doing what I can to make a difference not just for my students but for my peers too.
