"Off the Grid: Relational Infrastructures for Fragile Futures" Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Social Anthropology at the University of Edinburgh * * * We seek an outstanding Research Fellow to join an ESRC funded project ‘Off the Grid: Relational Infrastructures for Fragile Futures’. This project is a comparative study of the relationships that constitute off grid infrastructures for health and energy across global contexts of wealth, growth and poverty. This is a full time, fixed term post of 12 months available from September 2013. Salary: £30,424 - £36,298 per annum. The closing date for applications is the 16th July 2013. The research fellow’s key responsibilities will be to: 1) Contribute to the development of the conceptual and methodological parameters of the research project 2) Collect and analyse ethnographic data through an extended (six month) fieldwork project at an intentional/ecological community in Scotland 3) Contribute to the writing of research outputs including both written and visual publications. 4) Organise project workshop(s)/symposia The successful applicant will have a PhD in anthropology, sociology, geography, science and technology studies or a related discipline and be an experienced ethnographic researcher with excellent interpersonal skills. Additional expertise in one or more of the following areas: health, energy, material culture, activism, Scotland or working experience of visual research methodologies (including photography, film and digital media) would be desirable.
