Dear All

After a great Urban Open Space event last month - huge thanks to the
brilliant people from the Met Office/NASA Space Apps, RCA, Imperial,
University of Dundee and everyone else who took part! - I am very
pleased to announce the next Digital Futures session, An Internet With
Things In It.

Please join us on Tuesday 18th June for an open discussion and
demonstrations of work. The event is free and everyone is welcome to
join in the discussion and/or bring prototypes and ideas to share!

Also, don't miss the next gallery pop up showcase - Digital Design
Drop-in - with Patrick Stevenson-Keating and of course, This Happened,
which is coming back to the V&A with great speakers!

All the best

Digital Futures is an open studio showcase presenting groundbreaking
new work and offering a space for participants to share work and ideas,
but also a platform to network and nurture discussion and future
collaborations.
For this session we will be meeting in the Sackler Centre Digital
Studio to showcase, discuss, and explore what it means to connect
objects to the internet. Some are calling this the Internet of Things,
some the Physical Web and others Physical Apps. But what do you think it
is?

We would love it if you were able to join us for a day, to bring
demonstrators, sketches, ideas and thoughts about an internet with
things in it. Join Martin de Bie & Juan Cristobal Karich and students
from ENSAD (École Nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs, Paris) with
Alexandra Deschamps-Sonsino and students from the Product Research
Studio at the University of Dundee to talk to the public about what we
think this digital future might be.

Digital Design Drop-in: Patrick Stevenson-Keating
Saturday 22 June
Sculpture, Room 21a
13:00 - 16:00
Free, Drop-in

From his Shoreditch based studio practice, Patrick Stevenson-Keating is
a designer working at the boundaries between design, science and
technology. Much of his work confronts modern scientific and
technological ideas and ideals, and explores how the use of design can
challenge, exploit and communicate these. With work spanning various
scales and media, Stevenson-Keating creates designed objects,
installations and experiences to examine science and technology's
influence on, and links with, society, the economy and philosophy, with
an ever present humorous undertone.

Recent projects have included a desktop quantum physics machine to view
your parallel lives, a DIY particle accelerator, and new ways to print
electrical circuits.
