1)      WED 19 JUNE WORKSHOP, ‘SEX IN THE CITADEL’ (Dr Shereen El Feki), 12-2pm, Elliot Jacques 110:



The Brunel Law School is most pleased to welcome Dr Shereen El Feki, author of 'Sex in the Citadel; intimate life in a changing Arab world' for Q & session - workshop on the topic of 'Law, Religion & sexuality' - The workshop – Q & A session is an opportunity to discuss with Dr Shereen El Feki several issues related to sexuality in the Arab world, ranging from women and sexual rights; adultery and Islamic law; legal restrictions on premarital sex; sexual intolerance; sex and islamophobia; sex trafficking; gay rights in the Arab world; hate speech and violence against LGBT individuals and other discriminatory practices.

2)      FRI 5 JULY CONFERENCE ‘LAW RELIGION & LGBT RIGHTS’,  10.00 – 6.30, Eastern Gateway auditorium (groundfloor):



An interdisciplinary conference entitled " Law, Religion & LGBT rights: Revisiting Christian and Islamic legal traditions regarding sexuality" involving a number of non-UK speakers from South Asia and the US.

It aims at providing a critical analysis on the relationship between religion, law and sexuality, focusing in particular on religious practices that have a discriminatory impact upon Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Inter-Sex individuals.
