The British Red Cross Museum and Archives is currently seeking an enthusiastic volunteer to assist with an exciting cataloguing project.

Following the closure of the Balfour Museum of Red Cross History in Hampshire at the end of 2012, selected items were transferred to the Museum and Archives at UK Headquarters. Consisting of friendship albums, minute books, newsletters, annual reports and photographs, the collection provides a valuable record of the history of the Hampshire Branch from its formation in 1909, in addition to commentary on fundraising and the provision of international aid to the victims of war and natural disasters.

The volunteer will be responsible for promoting access to the collection by creating ISAD(G) compliant catalogue entries, undertaking basic conservation work and placing all material in archive quality packaging.

This is a great opportunity for a graduate interested in pursuing a career in the archives sector or for a newly-qualified archivist wishing to acquire valuable practical experience in a busy corporate archive.

For further information about this role or to apply please visit the British Red Cross website at http://www.redcross.org.uk/Get-involved/Volunteer

Many thanks
