*Archives & Copyright: Developing an Agenda for Reform* This free, one-day symposium is jointly organised by CREATe, the RCUK Centre for Copyright and New Business Models, and the Wellcome Trust. It will provide an opportunity for participants to: consider the merits of taking a risk-based approach to copyright clearance for archival digitisation projects; to discuss current and future changes to UK and EU copyright legislation as they affect cultural heritage institutions; and to develop a strong voice for the archive community in ongoing policy debates in this area. The proceedings will also be made available online thanks to a generous grant from the Archives and Records Association UK & Ireland. This event will be of particular interest to archivists, especially those considering, planning or already involved in digitisation projects, as well as librarians, curators and other cultural heritage professionals who may hold responsibility for archive material. *DATE:* 27 September 2013 *TIME:* 9am to 5pm (followed by a drinks reception) *LOCATION:* 6th floor, Wellcome Trust, 215 Euston Road, London, NW1 2BE Confirmed speakers at the event currently include: · Simon Chaplin (Head of the Wellcome Library) · Ronan Deazley (University of Glasgow) · Christy Henshaw (Wellcome Library) · Peter Hirtle (Cornell University Library) · Peter Jaszi (Washington College of Law) · Lesley Richmond (Glasgow University Archive Services) · Matt Sag (Loyola University) · Victoria Stobo (University of Glasgow) · Robin Stout (Head of Copyright Legal Framework, UK Intellectual Property Office) · Paul Torremans (University of Nottingham) · Tim Padfield (formerly of The National Archives).
