This one day interactive workshop is aimed at rehabilitation professionals working with adults who have disorders of consciousness following brain injury.
The workshop includes theory sessions as well as hands on practical activities that can be used in the management of patients with disorders of consciousness prior to their admission to specialist rehabilitation settings.
Topics covered include: awareness assessment techniques, postural management, tracheostomy management, feeding, a hands-on session on assistive technologies and ethical/ medico-legal issues.
AIMS:
*             To extend skills and knowledge on disorders of consciousness
*             To introduce concepts that can be applied in acute or non-specialist rehabilitation settings
*             To provide practical activities to take away and use with clients/patients
This workshop will be led by Dr Kudret C. Yelden, Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine and will be of interest to any professional including students with interest in this specific area of neurological rehabilitation.
