Well, TOSMANA also has some features that fsQCA does not have (but I agree that the new R packages generally outperform the two programs). You can check http://www.compasss.org/software.htm for a brief intro to the major programs/packages. You can also consult Schneider, Carsten Q. and Claudius Wagemann (2012): Set-Theoretic Methods for the Social Sciences. A Guide to Qualitative Comparative Analysis. Cambridge: Cambridge University Press. Schneider/Wagemann discuss QCA software in this book.

Thanks. Guess its time I got used to R - I'm an old SPSS guy and never bothered - Oxford is divided ideologically between the two camps!
Thanks for the advice.

As a new comer (though with long experience in quantitative research) interested in seeing if QCA will help with a project, and learning how to use it, I seem to have a choice really between Tosmana and fsQCA - does anyone have a preference for first time users? The project in question is Comparative Historical Sociology, by the way.
