*Parry Williams Doctoral Studentship in Music* *School of Music, Bangor University* ** This award is named after D. E. Parry Williams (1900-1996), the first Head of School at Bangor; it is funded by an endowment at the University in his memory. For more than a decade now, the Parry Williams fund has supported excellent undergraduate and postgraduate students in Music. The School is inviting applications from candidates with outstanding research potential in any area of music, but especially for doctoral projects that fall within the established research groups <http://www.bangor.ac.uk/music/research/index.php.en?menu=2&catid=1323&subid=0>or the remit of staff research interests <http://www.bangor.ac.uk/music/staff/index.php.en?menu=21&catid=7436&subid=0>(including musicology, composition, electroacoustic composition, sonic arts and performance). Applications are particularly welcome from students working in David Parry Williams's own specialist areas: Welsh music and composition. The award will consist of a bursary of £7,500 per annum for a period of three years. To be eligible prospective students must fulfil the conditions for doctoral study and have been offered a place as a PhD student at Bangor University. The successful candidate will be expected to take up his/her studies at Bangor in the autumn of 2013 or as soon as possible thereafter. As a PhD student in Bangor, you would be part of a lively and close-knit scholarly environment, in which musicological and practice-based research take equally important roles.
