Yes, my students told that it was hard to understand that male voice too. They are my very able English students.

 

今天我也听了，声音怪怪的，似乎声音先压在喉咙，然后生硬地蹦出来；或者说，在装模作样地发音。

Dear Bao Kie and Katja,

My students also felt the male voice was very strange and difficult to understand. Having listened to the CD myself I do think the voice was not natural and very over the top, unlike the female voice, which was natural sounding.
