During an exchange on Twitter this morning about the fulsome coverage given to gov.uk in the latest CILIP Update, several people articulated some of the frustrations voiced on this list and elsewhere about its ease of use, the permanence of links to DoH documents and related material and the loss in trasnit of materials on their way to nationalarchives.gov.uk.
A contributor from inside government document management pleaded with us to log any cases of disappeared documents with the public enquiry line: 020 7210 4850 or http://www.info.doh.gov.uk/contactus.nsf/memo?openform
There are people within government arguing for a proper digital repository of government publications, and their voice needs support. At the moment, the view from PR that it's all about 'communication' not information, is winning the day (and the prizes).
