Hi Jenny,

Our approach is slightly different - we provide a water dispenser that can do hot or chilled water, and we sell 'in-cup' vending cups (with the powdered drinks inside) to users that they can fill with hot water.

We buy the cups via NHS Supplies (I can provide codes if required) and sell tea, coffee, and hot chocolate (which is actually quite tasty). All have whitener in so we don't need to worry about milk and no-one has complained about not having non-milk options.

We have an honesty box for payment, and are able to make a good surplus after costs, which like some of the other respondents we sometimes donate to hospital or health charities. It has proved popular with users, especially outside office hours.

I was a bit hesitant about it at first, but the staff are happy with it, as are the users. There is some extra work in keeping supplies topped up, empyting the money box, and the occasional spill, but I think the benefits outweigh it.

Hope that helps!

Kind regards,

Jason.

Subject: Coffee Machines in Libraries

Hello all

I'm pretty sure this has been discussed before but quite a while ago; please does anyone have any experience of providing coffee machines in hospital libraries and if so what is that experience, or have you thought about it and dismissed it and if so why?

Many thanks!

Best wishes

Jenny
