Job description:       
 
Based in Clerkenwell at London Metropolitan Archives (LMA), the largest local government archive in the United Kingdom, you will be working with more than 105 km of research collections that document the capital's history from 1067 to the present day. These collections have been awarded designated status by the Museums Libraries and Archives Council.
 
You will work in the Development team which runs an active and successful learning programme, attracting primary and secondary schools from across Greater London. You will contribute to the development of new learning activities specifically around Science and Heritage, based on relevant collections and the day to day work in the archive including Conservation, delivering sessions based on the collections which will involve working with written documents, photographs, prints, drawings, paintings and maps.
 
The team works with youth, adult and community groups as well as schools and with sister organisations within the department. You will also be expected to undertake work in these areas.
 
You will need a good honours degree preferably in history, English, art history, archaeology, classics, languages or the humanities with a demonstrable interest in the sciences, demonstrable teaching experience and some background in heritage learning. Graduates from other disciplines will need to demonstrate a wide reading and understanding of history and related areas.
