The most useful short clip I’ve found for teaching a specific principle is the Understanding Uncertainty video describing sensitivity and PPV.  I’ve found that too few of my trainees understand predictive values, or even know when they are important.  It’s available at both http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yg3EWaOVDXc and  http://understandinguncertainty.org/node/499.

Amy (and list)

You asked for short video clips.

In decision making……

This is the famous attention blindness demonstration. I won’t spoil it by a more detailed description here, it runs from about 2min 45secs in this youtube / Tedtalk video, which also has some entertaining illustrations of the system 1 preference for seeing patterns (even when they don’t exist).

And then for those people who struggle with moving established patterns of, say, prescribers……….this mediaeval helpdesk video is a source of reassurance that we are not alone.

I don’t remember who first showed me these, but they’re likely to be a member of this of group, and I’d like to say thank you on behalf of myself and my  “learners”!!

Best wishes

Neal
