In this issue we highlight a selection of accredited short courses and free evening talks. The short courses draw on modules from our part-time postgraduate courses in Evidence-Based Health Care and Health Research .

Led by internationally recognised experts and leaders in evidence-based practice and education, the Programme has received worldwide recognition for the quality of its teaching and graduates.


Knowledge into Action

3-7 June 2013

Evidence-based practice has enabled health practitioners to identify good quality evidence, but the process of translating research into meaningful knowledge that can be applied to patients and pathways of care is challenging.

This course will give you the skills to action research evidence in your local settings to inform decisions and improve practice.

The History and Philosophy of Evidence-Based Health Care

17-21 June 2013

This unique course is delivered by expert historians, philosophers and leaders within the field of evidence-based health care. Students will learn from experts how and why the EBHC movement arose, and examine whether its’ philosophy of evidence is justified.

Introduction to Statistics for Health Care Research (online)

24 June - 30 August 2013

This 10-week online statistics course is designed for busy health and social care professionals who need to understand the basics of health statistics without becoming statisticians. Students can study at a time suites their schedule. Online discussion forums enable students to communicate with each other and with the tutor to analyse and understand real-life scenarios.
