Also via WEQAS, RIQAS and BioRad……………..

Think difficulty will be that although recommendation was widely supported, there are no teeth. Bear in mind that accreditation of clinical labs in UK is not mandatory!

For those being accredited, where in standards does it state that units must be X or that path harmony must be complied with??

Thanks Julian,

There are two possible ways to communicate this and effect implementation:

1. via CPA: compliance with pathology harmony is monitored.

2. via NEQAS: all returns should be in ng/L for troponins.

Regards

Mohammad

Pathology Harmony made this recommendation 2.5 years ago and was supported by ACB, IBMS and RCPath. Despite this endorsement, it is a pity that colleagues do not think that harmonisation across the country is an important aim.

Thanks Paul,

But according to a recent UKNEQAS poll,

TnI: 84 labs reporting in ng/L and 124 labs in ug/L.

TnT: 146 labs reporting in ng/L and 31 labs in ug/L

So is this being picked up by pathology harmony?

Mohammad

Dear All,

I know that labs who offer Hs-TnT are reporting in ng/L, how about labs offering ultra sensitive TnI, are they reporting in ug/L or ng/L and which one we should follow according to pathology harmony?

many thanks

Mohammad
