We found that spending time on education of both midwives and doctors was time very well spent. They had a spurious mindset that said you could allow up to ten minutes after sampling to get the blood in the analyser. We emphasised gentle mixing by rotation and speed. Jan Still happily retired. We put this down to the nature of samples going into the device (e.g fetal scalp samples). I don’t have any data on time taken to rectify these failures as this is all run automatically through the IQM , which will correct a problem if there is one. I hope this helps.
