No, I mean sourcing as in adding a line

 source $STARLINK_DIR/bin/convert/convert.csh

Otherwise you are executing convert.csh as a shell script, all the environment variables are being set in that forked process and then the process immediately ends and you are back where you started.

Subject: SMURF and Convert scripting

Hi,
I am trying to run 'makemap' from a script on a bunch of SCUBA 2 files
which are gzipped. This is ok when you do it from the command line so long
as you have initialised 'convert'. However, I am trying to run this on a
cluster which requires submitting the job as a script to a queue. I have
tried initialising convert within the script which would be the normal
solution but that doesn't work, even though convert does get initialised.
I've also tried explicitly adding the convert directory and the various
executables to my path but I'm still not having any success. If I unzip the
files 'manually' first then my script works so it seems to be definitely
down to the call from makemap to convert that is the problem. Any
suggestions?
  Thanks for any help.
     Cheers
        Larry

are you sourcing the convert.csh file in your script? It sets a bunch of
environment variables.
