Imaging Technician

Salary: £20,764-£24,049 pa

The Wolfson Brain Imaging Centre's Laboratory of Molecular Imaging facility provides microMRI research imaging 5 days a week.  Currently there are two microMRI research scanners, Bruker 4.7/40 and Pharmascan used for pre-clinical imaging.  In total providing approximately 800 research scans per annum.

The Imaging Technician prepares and operates the scanners for pre-clinical scanning, according to predefined protocols, under the supervision of the Research Associate and Director of MRI at the Wolfson Brain Imaging Centre.

He/she will also be responsible for routine maintenance of the scanner equipment and maintain high standards of health and safety, in line with current policies.

Essential and desirable requirements for this role include:

Knowledge of the relevant equipment and experiments would be preferred but full training could be given if sufficient technical skills can be demonstrated.
Good IT skills.
Relevant experience would be an advantage but is not essential.
Conscientiousness and attention to detail, with good technical literacy rather than detailed knowledge of (e.g.) scanning.
Good interpersonal skills with flexible approach and willingness to take on other duties as necessary.
High standard of accuracy and ability to prioritise effectively.
Education & qualifications:

HNC level qualification or equivalent experience.
Previous technician experience preferred but full training offered.
Newly qualified graduates will be considered.
This appointment is subject to a health assessment. Whether an outcome is satisfactory will be determined by the University.
