Dear Colleagues,

positions for a postdoc and a PhD student in the field of ultrafast
spectroscopy are open at the Institute of Biophysics,
Goethe-Universität, Frankfurt. Depending on qualification and interest
projects in different areas are available:

- Catalysis and reaction dynamics
- Dynamics of natural and designed proteins
- Development of novel spectroscopic techniques

Please find the details below.

*PhD and Postdoc Position*

*Ultrafast Spectroscopy, 2D-IR Spectroscopy:
Chemistry and Biophysics in Realtime*

We are offering a PhD position and a Postdoc position in our group at
the Institute of Biophysics, University of Frankfurt, Germany.

Our group investigates molecular structure and dynamics, addressing
phenomena at the intersection of chemistry, physics and biology. For
this purpose we develop novel spectroscopic techniques, mostly involving
ultrafast multidimensional IR spectroscopy. Depending on your
qualification and interest, projects in different areas are available:

-Catalysis and reaction dynamics

-Dynamics of natural and designed proteins

-Development of novel spectroscopic techniques

Our group runs two laser labs with four amplified femtosecond laser
systems which can be synchronized to cover delays from femtoseconds to
milliseconds. We operate a protein laboratory and have access to
excellent facilities and instrumentation for protein characterization.
For computations we have access to a high performance linux cluster. For
more information on our research, please have a look at our homepage
(http://www.biophys.uni-frankfurt.de/~bredenbeck).

Your qualifications: We are looking for a highly motivated researcher
with an active attitude and excellent communicative and collaborative
skills. You should have (or be about to obtain) a degree in Chemistry,
Physics or Biology, be enthusiastic about fundamental experimental
research, and ideally have a background in several of the following
fields: physical chemistry, physical organic chemistry, protein
biophysics, biochemistry, lasers, nonlinear optics, infrared
spectroscopy, femtosecond spectroscopy, theoretical chemistry.

Applications should be send by email, including a cover letter, your CV,
and names and addresses of two referees who would write a letter of
recommendation.
