One-day meeting to celebrate Sally Macintyre’s contribution to health inequalities research and policy 
(joint meeting of SSM & BSA Medical Sociology Group)

Monday 17 June 2013, 10.30 to 4.30, followed by a reception

Sally Macintyre has been a leader in the field of Social and Public Health research in the UK and beyond for more than 30 years. She has made particular contributions in the field of social inequalities in health and is a proponent of using robust methods to evaluate the impact of social interventions on health. Her contribution to science was recently recognised by being one of 12 women to be given a Suffrage Science award.

This one day meeting aims to celebrate Sally’s contribution to research and policy by asking key experts, who have also been close colleagues of Sally’s, to reflect on: changes in debates around health inequalities over the last 30 years; the role Sally has played in these; and the challenges that are a priority for the coming decade.

Contributors include: David Armstrong, Peter Craig, Steve Cummins, Ana Diez Roux, Andrew Fraser, Hilary Graham, Graham Hart, Kate Hunt, Catherine Law, Mark Petticrew, Steve Platt, Karien Stronks, and Sally Macintyre.

Registration cost: SSM/BSA member = £65, Non-members = £100, Non-waged/students/early career researchers = £30
