CURRICULUM VITAE Name: Paul Andrew Clarke Address: 874 Lightwood Rd Lightwood Date of Birth: 26 / 02 / 83 Stoke-on-Trent Staffordshire Telephone: 01782 325655 ST3 7HB Mobile: 07841290758 Nationality: British E-mail: [log in to unmask] Full UK Driving License and own car Profile I graduated from Gloucestershire University in 2005 with a 2:2 BSC Honours Degree in Physical Geography and Environmental Science. While at university I covered many topics during the course and now feel that I have a broad understanding of many environmental issues. I am computer literate, particularly in programmes such as word and excel and have used specialised programmes such as GIS. My degree course included undertaking projects in Cyprus, Switzerland and in my final year I carried out a Lake Habitat Survey in Florida, USA. I feel that this was particularly successful and helped my understanding of field projects especially surveying, conservation and management issues. I also feel that carrying out such projects has helped my composure of report writing along with other issues such as my time management. Since graduating from University I have worked for established companies such as the Rural Payments Agency, Halcrow and Mouchel encompassing a range of job responsibilities including waste management, water modelling, surveying and using specialised GIS software such as ArcGIS, MapInfo and RLR. Ideally I would love to work for a large multi national corporation with the opportunity to work overseas at some point in my career. I feel that I am a well-motivated individual who can work well in a team or has the discipline and attention to detail to work sufficiently on my own. The areas that I have most knowledge in is GIS and I am open to any suggestions such as pollution / waste management and control, water modelling, town planning, surveying etc. These are all areas that are of interest to me and ones, which I may be interested in focussing a career around if the opportunity arises. Ideally a position that involves outdoor work also would be of interest to me, such as a trainee land surveyor, field technician, wastewater sampler etc. In 2012 I undertook a MapInfo Foundation course held by exeGesIS in Talgarth, South Wales. This involved the production of maps using the MapInfo mapping software, which I felt helped me regain previous knowledge from other employment and will hopefully stand me in good stead when looking for current opportunites. I am also AAT Level 3 Qualified in Accountancy, which I completed in 2012 while in current employment. I undertook this to progress in my current position and I feel it has given me a greater understanding of the running of businesses and future planning aspects of companies. I have done these as part of my CPD as I feel that it is important to add more qualifications to my CV and keep up to date in today’s current economic climate. On a personal level I enjoy playing sport, mainly football, snooker, badminton and golf. I have done a lot of travelling in-between positions as I took 4 months out since university to travel overseas to places such as USA, Australia, Canada and Japan. I feel that this has given me a greater understanding of life in general and also given me great life experience along with opening my mind to different options available to me. Once all of the information for an area was gathered it could then be run through the flooding programmes and particular problem areas could be spotted, such as broken pipes and any changes to sewer networks that may need to be made. This involved a lot of study into the sewer networks of the Severn Trent system in particular along with the North West Leicestershire regions. Such aspects that were covered in detail included looking at land uses, populations, future planning applications etc. September 07 – April 08 Cornovii Investment Management Ltd, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffs Data Control Officer I began working at Cornovii which is mainly a family run business as part of the accounts department while I began to do some travelling. I have also assisted land surveyors with data collection and topographical surveys. I do also have some experience in the running of Sewage Treatment Works sites through some surveying carried out while at Halcrow. I feel this gave me a general understanding of water treatment while in the field and as I result I feel it would also be an area of interest to me for any particular positions that may arise. Sept 06 – March 07 Rural Payment Agency, Reading, Berkshire. Administrative Officer My main job objectives involved the use of specialised GIS programmes to help map agricultural land, making any alterations such as field size, land use, agricultural methods being implemented etc. A lot of this was initially done through the use of programmes such as Excel where raw data handling methods were used to input into other programmes such as RLR using formulas to re size fields and change agricultural methods that were being implemented. Customer contact was also important through keeping clients informed on any alterations that are to be made to their establishments, via letter or telephone. An eye for detail was important because of the large amounts of data being handled, therefore the job involved a lot of checking for errors in clients records and making the correct alterations. Programmes used included RLR mapping software along with Microsoft Word & Excel.
