Dear Sir / Madame

I graduated from Gloucestershire University in July 2005 with a Bsc Honours degree in Physical Geography and Environmental Science with a 2:2 result. I am now looking to start a career in the environmental industry as I would like to make the most of my degree and at the moment the area that I have the most interest in is the GIS sector. I have roughly 1.5yrs post graduate GIS experience after working for companies such as Mouchel, Halcrow Group Limited and the Rural Payments Agency. Here I used programmes such as ArcMap, ArcGIS, MapInfo, NFCDD, RLR and briefly some CAD packages. While at these establishments I did also assist with some field work such as land surveying using topographical equipment. I do also have a brief understanding of the running of Sewage Treatment Sites that was carried out while at Halcrow and as I result would also be interested in any water modelling, water treatment or water planning positions that you may know of. I would be keen to hear from you if you know of any environmental positions that are available primarily based in the GIS sector but I would consider any roles at the moment to kick start a career. I hold a full UK driving license with no penalty points and have my own car so getting around is not an issue. I am ideally looking for permanent positions based around the Midlands region but would be willing to commute to areas such as Manchester, Birmingham, Derbyshire etc if the correct position arouse I would also consider contract vacancies as well at the moment due to the limited amount of positions being available. I am ideally seeking a minimum 6 month contract to make a move on from my current position feasible. My current position is around £16k for a guide if that helps. I do hope that you feel you can point me in the right direction, as I am sure you are aware of how difficult it is to start a career these days with so many people having degrees. For your information and reference purposes I have attached a copy of my CV for you to study.

Thank you for reading this cover letter and I look forward to hearing from you soon. My preferred contact number is 07841290758.
