Dear all,

I am a disability coordinator. I get reports about students from the
disability advisers. I circulate this to relevant members of the
administrative and academic staff. Students are generally keen to have
their disability recognised. About 90% of the students I deal with have
a problem with dyslexia, and it is obviously particularly helpful for
them if appropriate members of staff know about this condition.

I think what I do is fairly standard procedure in our University.

I hope this is of some help to other people.

Best wishes

Mark

Dear Colleagues,

I am wondering whether it is normal practice within other institutions
to provide teaching staff with study needs information on their
(disabled) students on a pro-active basis, ie do you email all
appropriate tutors with the details of their forthcoming students?

If so, how do you manage this process and when do you send out the
notification? Would you be willing to share any information with me
around how this is done?

I would be grateful for any replies on this subject and would be happy
to share back to the list if individuals are OK for me to do this.

Best wishes,

Lyn
