BOOK NOW AND PROPOSE A SESSION
Digital pedagogies: E-learning and digital humanities unconference University College London
13 June 2013

***Apologies for cross-posting***

UCL Centre for Digital Humanities, in partnership with the Higher Education Academy, will be hosting a FREE ‘unconference’* focusing on bringing together the e-learning and digital humanities communities to discuss the development of ‘Digital Pedagogies’ in University teaching.

‘Digital Pedagogies’ are innovative methods of teaching - using ICT tools to facilitate and foster a high quality digital learning space. There are big questions around how teaching techniques can be modified and digital enhanced to meet the needs of 21st century virtual learning. The objective of this unconference will be firstly to bring together these e-learning and digital humanities communities with what are often similar research objectives, and secondly provide a space to speak about current digital teaching techniques, defining areas for improvement and enhancement.

We invite you to submit session proposals.

What do I propose?
Anything on the topic of e-learning and/or digital humanities. The format of the session can be anything you want it to be from a game to a presentation/discussion. Each session will last approximately 1 hour.

The format of your session can follow the 'traditional' THATCamp taxonomy (TALK, PLAY, MAKE, or TEACH) or be a creation of your own.
Talk session - you offer to lead a group discussion on a topic or question of interest to you.
Make session - you offer to lead a small group in a hands-on collaborative working session with the aim of producing a draft document or piece of software.
Teach session - you offer to teach a skill, either a “hard” skill or a “soft” skill.
Play session - you suggest literally playing a game, or you suggest some quality group playtime with one or more technologies, or what you will.

How do I propose a session?
Two ways:
1. email Rachel Kasbohm at [log in to unmask] with your proposal idea; or, 2. register an account on the THATCamp site (http://digitalpedagogies2013.thatcamp.org/registerproposal/), you will then receive a login for our Wordpress login to the site http://digitalpedagogies2013.thatcamp.org/wp-admin/. Click on Posts –> Add New, then write and publish your session proposal. It will appear on the homepage of the site.

When do I propose a session?
You can propose a session today or on the day of the event. The earlier the better to accommodate anything you might need.

Questions?
Email Rachel: [log in to unmask]) or via Twitter @digipedagogies #DPUK13.

Looking forward to 13 June!

Best wishes,

Jennie Osborn

* An ‘unconference’ structure is delegate-driven with the agenda created by the attendees on the day. There is an open call for presentations on the topic of enhancing and developing digital pedagogies in your field of research, but spaces are limited so early attendance on the day is recommended.
