Can I draw your attention to an upcoming conference at the University of
Aberdeen. Attendance is free, but registration is necessary following the
link given below

POLITICS OF OIL & GAS IN A CHANGING UK: INTERNATIONAL PERSPECTIVES

Public conference - open to all

Wednesday 8th and Thursday 9th May

In 2014 Scottish voters face a referendum on whether or not they remain
citizens of
the United Kingdom. Their understanding of the political economy of oil
and gas is
likely to play a significant part in how they decide their future. But
Scottish
independence is only one of many decisions to be made about the future of
hydrocarbons. At this public conference, politicians, trade unionists,
industry
leaders, lawyers, environmentalists and academics will debate three key
questions:
- What should be done with the profits of oil and gas?
- What should be the future of the oil and gas workforce?
- How can oil and gas production be best reconciled with care for the
environment?

For details and to register, please go to
http://www.abdn.ac.uk/cisrul/events/2268/

The conference takes place over two days but we will welcome those who can
only
attend part of the event, and so sessions are available to book
individually or in
any combination. Those unable to attend during the day are encouraged to
join in our
Wednesday and Thursday evening sessions, which will begin with a summary
of the
day's discussions, prior to opening up for debate.

Sandwich lunch and refreshments will be provided to daytime event attendees.

If you have any questions about the conference, please contact Tracey
Connon on
