As a small diversion, you may be interested to see this ‘teaser trailer’ for a new musical opening in Peterborough next week. ‘Parkway Dreams’ is produced by Eastern Angles Theatre Company and is one of the outcomes of the ‘Forty Years On’<http://www.vivacity-peterborough.com/libraries-and-archives/forty-years-on/> project in conjunction with Peterborough Archives. ‘Forty Years On’ has been cataloguing the records of the Peterborough Development Corporation and gathered oral histories of people involved in the city at the time of expansion from 1968 to 2008 when we were a ‘New Town’. Whether this is the first example of a musical based almost exclusively on an archive collection, I don’t know, but it will promise an evening of 70s nostalgia, town planning, bell bottom trousers, local government intrigue, chopper bikes, and the clangers!
