Invitation to Public Lecture entitled,
Violence and child rights among young Jamaicans: Towards Ending Gang and Youth Violence

In partnership with the Caribbean Child Development Centre (CCDC) of The University of the West
Indies (UWI), CYRI will present a special public lecture on Friday 22nd March 2013, "Violence and child rights among young Jamaicans". This public lecture has been made possible through sponsorship from the British Academy and will take place at the ARU Cambridge
Campus.
The first keynote speaker is visiting Professor Julie Meeks-Gardner, who is Professor of Child Development and Nutrition, and Head of the Caribbean Child Development Centre, within the Consortium for Social Development and Research of the University of the
West Indies, Open Campus.
The second keynote speaker is Jessica Krutak, Mentor Programme manager from
Kids Company (kidsCo). KidsCo promote and support emotional wellbeing and believe that no child is born a criminal or a killer and that violent behaviour in children is typically evidence of the harm that they have been exposed
to (speaker to be confirmed).
