I’m just after a quick couple of hours really to speed up the initial learning curve of Xerte desktop. I used to use Flash so I’m hoping I can apply some of that knowledge to Xerte. Perhaps you could point me in the direction of some good tutorials or something? I haven’t found much but also not looked very hard.

I'm glad that event "looks good" but the names of the different tools are often used interchangeably with the term xerte (arguably incorrectly) when actually referring to Xerte Online Toolkits. I'm due to deliver that particular event on behalf of RSC London and it's focussed on use of XOT rather than Xerte desktop as that's where the majority of interest lies.
