"It may be that you have never heard of this archive, but the work that it undertakes and collections it holds are inspirational" "This, to me, is the essence of family history - practical, small scale and life changing" This is how Nick Barratt, historian, BBC researcher and consultant, and Executive Editor of Your Family History magazine talks about the Planned Environment Therapy Trust Archive and Study Centre in the latest issue of Your Family History Magazine - and why we had won their "Archive of the Year" award over strong competition, including the new, purpose-built, multi-million pound The Hive, in Worcester - "which perhaps offers a glimpse of the future of archival services...[with] its impressive size and range of state-of-the-art technologies..." As he rightly says, we are "an archive that in many ways could not be more dissimilar." Why? Because of you. Because we spring from the therapeutic community premiss. Because we have the privilege to be engaged with some pretty phenomenal people. This is our last PETiTATHON (for the time being, at least!). For reasons explained elsewhere, Chris and Gemma will be leaving us at the end of the month, so - (with a deep intake of breath) - They have taken over the PETiTATHON site this time! They have published some of their 'Favourite Photographs' from the last three years (http://pettrust.org.uk/favourite-photographs/three-years-in-images); and they have written their own blogs, putting their own personal spins on the question: 'What Has PETT Ever Done For Me?' (http://pettrust.org.uk/what-s-pett-ever-done-for-me) We hope you enjoy it! We hope it helps to explain what Nick Barratt has said; and what a unique and precious thing the many worlds of therapeutic communities and environments have created for themselves at the Planned Environment Therapy Trust. And we hope it may inspire you to use it, and support it, and talk about it even more than you do at present. As we prepare to put the PETiTATHONS to bed, we hope you have enjoyed reading our monthly updates and features features as much as we have enjoyed putting them together. We hope you have learned more about the Trust, and what the Archive and Study Centre holds and does. We hope you will continue to learn about and support the Trust as we enter a new phase of activity: You can read more about that and the future of PETT in the attached Letter from our Executive Director Rich Rollinson, which is also online: http://pettrust.org.uk/pett-news/speaking-of-the-future. Once again, if anything in this campaign touches a chord or indicates that we are deserving of your support, please use our BT My Donate Page (https://mydonate.bt.com/charities/plannedenvironmenttherapytrust) to add your £10, £20, £50, £150 (hey - £15,000 - go for it!) to that of others. BT MyDonate itself does not take anything out of what you give, although your credit or debit card will make a small charge. Or, cheques made out to PETT can be sent directly to PETT, Barns Centre, Church Lane, Toddington near Cheltenham, Glos. GL54 5DQ. If you are a U.K. tax payer, Gift Aiding your donation will add 25% in value to your gift without any additional cost to you (or to us!). Also, please let us know if you do not wish to receive further emails of this kind. You've been very patient so far, and we are very grateful for that; but if you have finally had enough, please let us know, and we will immediately take you off the list.
