Good afternoon List

Does anyone have an appropriate Alcohol Policy that I can take a look
at.

We are currently looking to change our policy , specifically looking at
what point people should request help for a dependency issue. There
seems to be two train of thoughts and we are going round in circles at
the moment.

1. Employees may request OH support and rehabilitation on
admission of dependency 'after' they have tested positive during
screening for due cause.

2. Employees may only request rehabilitation support if a
dependency/health issue is declared prior to any due cause screening.

The company is keen to support people but we have serious concerns about
employees who know they have a problem and don't declare it until they
are caught which may mean they have worked for months or years in some
cases while having dependency issues.

I would be really interested to gain people's opinions and views on
this, but more than anything would like some evidence to take back to
our unions. It's also important to note that I work in the heavy
engineering industry and the work in each department is deemed to be
safety critical.

Thanks in anticipation.
