Anita,

Here's the programme Hope it helps. I think it offers a sensible and consistent approach and gives OHA's a sense of understanding and thus confidence. I attended it recently and was very impressed as its not often you get a course for this health area designed for OHA's.

Let me know if you want me to add your names to the interested list ( and how many) once you see the programme.

What would it mean to you as an OHN to be more confident in the management of your employees with MSD's, having a greater knowledge of the most common conditions seen in the workplace?

This unique course has been designed specifically for Occupational Health Nurses and Advisors. Kathy Taylor MCSP HPC has over 16 years experience working as a Physiotherapist. She is one of the most experienced Physiotherapists in the FitBack team. She is a member of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Occupational Health & Ergonomics. Her particular areas of interest are the management of MSD's in the workplace and the management of Low Back Pain . She is the lead course tutor and has been responsible for designing the course.

About The Course:
The course has been specifically designed to increase the knowledge and confidence of OHN's and OHA's in their management of MSD's. It looks at common work related MSD's such as low back pain, upper limb conditions and their management. Early intervention is key and we look at the important role of the OHN in early identification of symptoms to prevent disorders becoming chronic. It also investigates barriers to the employee returning to work following sickness absence.

Exploring the use of Flag systems in identifying barriers in return to work, this is a highly functional course that will provide OHN's and OHA's with the tools to be able to think out of the box. The course also explores the importance of good posture and 1st line ergonomics in preventing and reducing MSD's . The advice you will be able to pass onto your employees will be invaluable.

Hi Dawn

Would certainly be interested in knowing more about the FIT BACK course and might well be interested in attending, plus have three OH advisors in Wiltshire within striking distance of SW, not sure what budget we have, but if you can provide details might be able to persuade the powers that be to allow a couple of us to attend.

Please reply off list to work email address if possible to [log in to unmask]

Thanks

Subject: [OCC-HEALTH] FIT BACK

Dear All,

I am wishing to bring the FIT BACK training to the South West ( Exeter ) this year. I am wanting to set up a study day but need to have 20 people to be able run it. I am not intending for this to be a profit making exercise but found the course so fantastic when I went on it recently that I thought I would try and let others have the benefit as well.

It is a one day course and I aim to run it from Sandy Park Just off junction
30 of M5.

The course is run by Physios and aims to help OH's have a structured approach to assessment and management of ULD and back issues.

If you would like to be put on the list to attend then please email me. I was thinking of running it in Septemeber/October as the SWOHG day is in May and it offers another study day later in the year.

I am expecting the day to cost appox £150 which is more due to the location.
Max 20 places.

Please let me know

Thanks Dawn
