The Emergence of iWar: Changing Perceptions of Military Engagement in a Post-Broadcast Era

CMCR research seminar with Holger Pötzsch

11.30am, Monday 15 April 2013

Room B470, Borough Road Building

London South Bank University, Borough Road SE1

The concept of iWar refers to the fact that Web 3.0 applications and proactive wearable devices increasingly individualise the information we receive about wars. This paper discusses these technological developments in relation to the emergence of what has been described as ‘diffused war’ and ‘virtuous war’.

Dr Holger Pötzsch is a researcher at the Department of Culture and Literature at Tromsø University, Norway, where he is associated with the Border Culture/Border Poetics and DOMINO research groups. His research interests include audio-visual representations of war, film and cultural memory, and the discursive construction of borders and boundaries through popular culture.
