ASSISTANT PROFESSOR NEW MEDIA & DIGITAL CULTURE (1,0 fte)
Excellent
research assessments and growing student
numbers enable the department of Journalism of the University of
Groningen, The Netherlands, to hire an assistant professor with
expertise in the
field of New Media and Digital Culture. The position is open to
candidates with a wide range of research interests and theoretical and
methodological expertise. The preferred candidate is able to teach
courses in media and journalism studies on the undergraduate and MA
level and is interested in working at the crossroads of new and social
media, journalism and digital culture.
The successful applicant is expected to:
- perform
teaching and supervisory tasks in the department's International and
Dutch MA programs in Journalism as well as in its undergraduate program
in Media and Journalism Studies. International candidates will teach
solely in English. Dutch candidates will teach in both English and Dutch
- participate actively in curriculum development, course design and administration of the Journalism Department
- carry out and generate top research in media studies or journalism
studies, with a focus on new and social media, and digital culture
- pursue research grants and other forms of external funding
- participate actively in international research networks and build international collaboration
- participate actively in the activities of the interdisciplinary research Centre for Media and Journalism Studies.
The preferred starting date is 1 August 2013.
