Dear all (apologies for cross-posting),

Just a reminder that the deadline for applications for the AHRC Professional Preparation Masters in Music - Oxford Brookes University is Friday 19th April, and applicants need to have a confirmed place on the course to be eligible.  Please circulate the following information amongst any potentially interested parties:

The Universities of Oxford Brookes, Hertfordshire and Surrey invite applications for Masters awards through the AHRC Block Grant Partnership Scheme. AHRC Awards are available for 2013/2014, across the three partner institutions, covering both fees and stipend at the standard AHRC rate.

Oxford Brookes University invites applications for one year fully funded studentships (full-time) in Music.

The MA offers different pathways, including one in Music and Popular Culture, taught by Dr Dai Griffiths, Dr Jan Butler and Dr Pete Dale, who are members of the Popular Music Research Unit.  Other pathways are available in Music on Stage and Screen, Music and Nineteenth Century Culture and Contemporary Practice in Composition. Recent MA dissertations related to pop music have included studies of media representations of Hole, a close reading of The Smiths' debut album, racism in early British Punk, the use of popular music in film and a study of changes in popular music journalism in the mainstream British press, 1981-88.
