OSCAR–winning movie producer Lord David Puttnam will address key television and film industry figures at an event hosted by the University of Sunderland & The Royal Television Society later this month.

Lord Puttnam will be interviewed by Mike Rosser, News Editor, Screen International in front of an invited audience of 200 that will include leading figures from the television, film, online and games industries. The audience will also include senior academics from universities and colleges from across the UK – as well as students from the University of Sunderland.

His two-hour session will be entitled Television to Tablets – a prescription for the health of screen industries. He will cover topics including storytelling, performance, cinematography, journalism, business models and technology.

Lord Puttnam, the former Chancellor of the University of Sunderland, will illustrate these topics with clips from his own back catalogue, as well as from some of his favourite producers, directors and digital artists.

The final section will take the form of Desert Island Discs, during which Lord Puttnam will talk about content which inspired him in his youth, during his film career and which inspires him today.

Members of the audience will also be able to question the Labour peer through a live Twitter feed.

University students will film and record the event, which starts at 10.30 on Thursday, March 28.
