Documentary Film and Psychoanalysis Conference: From Observation to Après-coup



9.00 – 17.00, 4th May 2013, UCL, London



In the spirit of interdisciplinary research, this conference aims to develop connections between the two fields through conversations between psychoanalysts, documentary filmmakers and film theorists.



Keynote speaker: Prof. Michael Renov (Professor of critical studies, University of Southern California) Author, The Subject of Documentary (2004) and Hollywood's Wartime Woman: Representation and Ideology (1988); Editor, Theorizing Documentary (1993); Co-editor, Collecting Visible Evidence (1999), a collection of essays on documentary studies; and Resolutions: Contemporary Video Practices (1996); Series editor, Visible Evidence book series (1997)



The day will include documentary film screenings, paper presentations and panel discussions with:
