An introduction to RDA - a joint CIGS/BDS workshop

 

The Cataloguing and Indexing Group in Scotland is delighted to announce its first workshop on RDA, which will take place at the Mitchell Library, Glasgow on the 26th of April 2013.  The workshop will be led by Jenny Wright, Development Manager and resident RDA expert at Bibliographic Data Services Limited.  

 

Workshop details: 

 

This is an introductory course and will include:

 

·         An introduction to RDA, covering its history and the conceptual model on which it is based. 

·         A look at the web-based rules in RDA Toolkit. 

·         An examination of the principal differences between RDA and AACR2. 

·         How to code RDA records in MARC21. 

·         An emphasis on worked examples and practical information. 

 

The workshop will benefit cataloguers and metadata experts seeking a practical introduction to RDA (Resource Description and Access), and those responsible for implementing the standard.

 

Venue: Mitchell Library, Glasgow (Moir/Dyer suite)

Date: Friday, 26th April 2013

Time: 10am to 4.30pm

Cost: CIGS members £40 (plus vat) non-members £50 (plus vat) 

 

Registration/tea/coffee will be from 10am, and a sandwich lunch is included in the workshop fee.
