FESTIVAL ORLANDO INNAMORATO
ITALIAN
THEATER PRACTICUM
A unique
opportunity to improve Italian by acting.....in
Italy.
Teatromania
of New York, together with the Municipality of Ugento as well as the Apulia
Region, announces the continuation of the study abroad program in Ugento
(LE). In its fifth year, the program offers Italian linguistic and cultural
immersion through theatrical performance.
Duration of
summer program: May 29, 2013 to July 1,
2013.
Program Faculty: The program
founder and director is Vittorio Capotorto.
Course: Italian
Theater Practicum
Prerequisite:
Intermediate level of Italian. All levels of theater experience.
Students devote in-depth study to an Italian play which
they will perform for an Italian audience at the conclusion of the
program.
Attention will be given to grammar,
stylistics, and oral skills, combined with textual analysis, character
exploration, and acting techniques.
The end-of-course performances of the play, i.e. the
debut, will be part of the International Festival "Orlando Innamorato" which
will take place in May-June 2013.

Please read
carefully: Credits are contingent upon approval of the student's home
institution. Upon the student’s request, Teatromania will send a letter of
participation and evaluation.
Deadline for applying: March 31,

Notification of fellowship
winners: April 5, 2013.
All
students accepted to the program this year will receive a fellowship in the form
of a full tuition waiver.
Student’s acceptance deadline: April
15, 2013.
Financial responsibility of
students: There are two kinds of
non-refundable fees:
a) A US$50.00 registration fee to be paid with the
application.
b) US$1,250.00 to cover lodging and breakfast, payable by
April 15, 2013.
Students will be responsible for their airfare, all
transportation to and from Ugento, as well as their meals and personal
expenses.
Features:
On-site orientation: Upon arrival in Ugento, the students
take part in a comprehensive orientation session. Discussion topics
include practical advice about Italian life and customs. The orientation
concludes with a walking tour of Ugento.
Total immersion in Italian culture and lifestyle in a
small town of the Apulia region. Detailed information about Ugento and the

Possible excursions and activities that extend the
students' experience of Italian life and culture. In particular, the
students may wish to visit at their own expense famous places in the Salento
area, including Otranto and Gallipoli, the sea caves of S. Maria di Leuca, the
city of Lecce (home to many Baroque buildings that are unique to Europe),
archaeological sites in the region, and more.
Application
information: Students must be at least 18 years of
age.

interest and experience in Italian language, literature, culture, and theater,
if any.
2. One copy of your most recent
transcript.
3. A one-page resume
(indicating special artistic skills.)
4. A letter of recommendation from a professor (Italian
or theater department.)
5. A US$50.00 non-refundable application fee.
6. A recent picture of yourself.
