Archivist (maternity cover, fixed term contract)

£31,000 - £33,000 p.a. plus benefits

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) is one of the world’s leading professional societies for the engineering and technology community, with more than 150,000 members worldwide. An opportunity has arisen for an Archivist to manage the Designated Archives and Rare Books collections within the IET’s Library and Archives Department. This is a fixed term contract for an initial period of six months, with the possibility of extension.

A qualified Archivist with at least three years’ experience and excellent project management and communication skills, you will help manage the move of the collections to a dedicated Archives Centre adjacent to the IET’s London headquarters at Savoy Place. This is an exciting opportunity to explore future options for the Archives at a time of change for the IET, its services and its members. You will work with professional colleagues to set up a new service and promote the collections to IET members, academic researchers and the general public. Reporting to the Library and Archives Manager, you will also manage a small team comprising an Assistant Archivist and volunteers.

To apply, please send a c.v. and covering letter to Anne Locker, Library and Archives Department, The IET, Savoy Place, London WC2R 0BL or by email to [log in to unmask]. The closing date for applications is Monday 8 April 2013.
