The Royal Statistical Society’s annual international conference takes place this year in Newcastle from 2-5 September.
Submissions are currently welcomed for contributed talks and posters on any topic or area of interest related to statistics and the use of data.

There are expected to be around 30 invited sessions in the following broad streams of sessions:
• Bioinformatics, Genomics & Biostatistics
• Communication of statistical ideas
• Data science (including experimental design)
• Emerging topics (including big data)
• Environment and ecology
• Industry and commerce
• Medical, clinical trials and epidemiology
• Public sector and policy evaluation (including open data)
• Statistics in sport
• Statistical methods and theory
The following plenary speakers have been confirmed:
- Sir Mark Walport (Chief Scientific Advisor, UK Government)
- Doug Altman (Centre for Statistics in Medicine, Oxford)
- Sharon Bertsch McGrayne – who will give the Significance plenary
- Sheila Bird (MRC Biostatistics Unit, Cambridge)
